About Brooks.
Helping families find the right home and care, at no cost to them.
Chapter I · Before this
He used to be the one who showed up after the fall.
Before any of this, Brooks was an EMT with San Juan Island EMS. That is a job where you meet families on the worst afternoon of their year, usually in a hallway, usually after something that had been building for months finally happened all at once.
He had studied computer graphics at Western Washington University. He grew up here. The ambulance was not the plan either.
Chapter II · How he got here
He fell into real estate by accident, in 1998.
That is his own description of it. The business he had been in shut down, and he needed to make a mortgage payment. He got a Washington real estate licence and spent the next twelve years originating loans alongside it.
The first listing took a year to get and a year and a half to sell. He has never been precious about that part of the story.
I fail probably more than anybody I know. Brooks Friedland
Senior placement came later, and it came from the same place the EMT work did. He kept meeting families in the middle of a decision nobody had prepared them for, being made on somebody else's timeline, usually in a hospital hallway by whoever happened to be standing there.
He is an eXp broker and an eXp senior network ambassador. The placement work is what he does now, and it is the part he talks about.
Chapter III · What he believes
Four lines he keeps where he can see them.
- Believe in good.
- Hurt people, hurt people.
- Never, never, never give up.
- Strong like tractor.
His own list, in his own order
The one that matters most for this work is the second. Families in the middle of this are frightened, and frightened people are not at their best with each other. Siblings say things they mean and things they do not. A parent digs in. Somebody stops answering the phone.
None of that means anyone has failed. It usually just means everybody is tired and nobody wants to be the one who says it out loud.
That is the conversation he is there for, and it is the reason the first call is twenty minutes of listening rather than a sales pitch.
However you reach him, it starts the same way.
Call 360‑746‑2218 and ask for Brooks, or book a twenty minute call and he will come to you. If you would rather read something first, the seven signs a parent needs more support is the one most families start with: get.seniorhomeadvisor.com/7-signs.
