What actually happens.

Helping families find the right home and care, at no cost to them.

Chapter I · Before you call

Calling does not commit you to anything.

A lot of families put off the first call because it feels like a decision. It is not. Most of the people Brooks talks to are not moving anyone anywhere this month, and some of them never do.

There is nothing to prepare and nothing to bring. You do not need your parent's medical records, you do not need a budget worked out, and you do not need everyone in the family to agree yet.

Chapter II · The five steps

From the first call to the week after the move.

01

A call, about twenty minutes

You tell him what has been happening. He mostly listens, and asks the questions you have not thought to ask yet. No cost, and nothing is decided on it.

02

Working out what is actually needed

How much help your parent needs day to day, which area works for the family, and what is realistic financially. This is the part that decides everything downstream, and it is why it happens with a person rather than a form.

03

A short list, not a directory

He comes back with a handful of communities that genuinely fit — not everything within twenty miles. Anyone can hand you a list of every option. The work is in the ones he leaves off.

04

Tours

Tour the top two before you tour anything else. Brooks will tell you what to look at and what to ask, including the questions that are awkward to ask in front of a sales director.

Families who tour six places in a week end up more confused than when they started, not less.

05

The move, and after it

Paperwork, timing, and the practical mess of moving a parent out of a home they may have been in for decades. He stays involved through it, and he is still there the week after, which is when most of the hard feelings actually arrive.

Chapter III · How he is paid

It costs your family nothing. Here is why.

Brooks is paid a referral fee by the community when a family moves in. That is how senior placement works across the industry, and it means his help is free to the family at every stage.

You should know that before the first call rather than wonder about it afterwards. It is also the reason he will tell you plainly when the answer is that your parent should stay where they are for now.

The honest version

He does not get paid unless someone moves. That is worth knowing, and it is worth asking him about directly on the call.

What a community itself charges is a separate question, it varies a great deal, and it is one to ask with real numbers in front of you.

However you reach him, it starts the same way.
